Mine aim to go out first week of June.

Mine a few days before that if they are co-operating.  ;)

Where i am it must have been a solid frost as even one of the pumpkin plants in the greenhouse showed slight frost damage.

As for the spuds it's weird but in one row they all showed signs apart from one in the middle which appeared totally unaffected. Bizarre!

:( dave,  forecasting then.

I find metcheck good for frost warning, if anything it errs on the cold side but I'd rather that than get caught out by the frost

M-O-S, you are a Saintess!

I'm a bit late on finding this Metcheck site, and find it incredibly interesting, as well as damn good at helping out!

Very many thanks - Saint Stigess!

Same here Redders! One end of the row was bashed, the other was clear and happily spudding along as if nothing had ha[ppened...

Thank your lucky stars anyway, Jack Frost moves in unusual ways...

Peas are hardy and unaffected by frost - usually.
These were beautiful and full of promise. Now they have crispy tips and more worrying yellowing leaves. I expect they will survive.

Local TV & Metcheck have both forecast a low of 5C and possible grass or air frost tonight

Yes, - 4degrees & chill factor to 2 degrees forecast tonight. Just dona a mad dash round 2 allotments in the dark & brought in hundreds of hardening off plants from the garden!

@ troubrs, it would make your post more meaningful if we knew where you were - please could you edit your forum profile to show your general location (click your username)?  Ta  :D

Yes M o S, we've just spent a happy hour and a half, collecting every single net we have, and making both the garden at home, and the plot, look like something out of Paraliament Square!

You'd be surprised how such items as bubble wrap from Amazon, old louvre doors, scaffolding netting from a site in Maidstone (1987), bits off a folding chair, loads of cloches previously stacked away for the summer, some rooflights from Homebase, (the actual Hendon building, not bought there), several yards of string from an old carpet, some plastic sheets bought over 25 years ago...
...all get pressed into service at the touch of a Metcheck mouse gesture, a shriek of anguish, and a scuttle in all directions!

However, I'm eternally grateful to you for pointing out the site a few weeks ago - it doesn't look like a freezing disaster, but will be pretty chilly, and we don't want that do we!

Which part of the country are you in? Your profile doesn't show this.

It makes a difference to the likelihood of having frost in your area.

Phew, that was a bit close down here...(West Kent)!

Pretty near to freezing looking at the state of the grass etc, but no damage to plants I reckon!

Live another day!

Temperatures that low can damage tenderplants anyway, regardless of an actual frost!
