Do San Marzano do ok outside? (bearing in mind that it doesn't look like we are going to get a summer this year according to long range forecasts).

I had three of them outside in pots on a patio last year and they did fantastic, despite the lousy weather. They were very big, strong plants and had a huge crop.

I've grown some on the allotment, and they didn't do very well, but it is a very windy site, they should be ok if your site is a bit more sheltered

Glad they're possibly good Shokky. I'm trying them myself (if they survive this deluge and get a bit of sun!)

I did well with these last year but mine were also in pots on the patio at home, not on the allotment

I had good results from San Marzano last year planted next to a south facing wall in my backyard. Today, I planted 24 on my allotment. Will be interesting to see the results!
