Yes and yes.

Can't re-inforce the "Yes" to the first question enough.

Out with the bag, in with the foil.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I get on fine with grow bag compost, the brand according to what's on special offer, but you may want to get specific seed compost for the finer ones, possibly even sieved to get any large bits out that may be lurking.

Thanks for the link DD. my trays arrived today and I'm pleased with them, they look like they won't give in like the floppy ones and plenty of room for root growth e.t.c seem ideal !

Pleased they're the right ones. Sturdy aren't they? - should last years and you don't really need to put them in a seed tray.

Yes they are very sturdy especially in the middle , there not un-breakable but they should last a while and I have 25 so  I doubt there will be any shortage. :)

Wait a month or so and you will be bombarded  with sowing and raising plants and that !!

I had this idea.  if you got power to the grow house,  get an old elecy bed blanket and put it in a large plastic bag to waterproof it.  if you ask at the local bed shops they often have some plastic bags from delivery rubish. lay it out as a heat bed on the greenhouse staging,  should work a treat.

I wouldn't do that.

DIY electricty + water = trouble unless you really know what you are doing.

Plastic bags that are used for delivery are NOT ultra-violet inhibited and soon go porous & brittle in sun light. The glass of your greenhouse won't stop every bit of UV getting in.

Hello,

Just a quick follow up on the seed trays ! Started off my first seeds of the year today - 3 varieties of sweet peas from Wilko 1 seed in each cell 20 to one tray and 3 trays. On the office windowsill and there is a radiator underneath so plenty of warmth ! And blinds to keep them cosy at night :)

Food bags but I haven't inflated them as good as DD. it isn't as easy as it looks you know !

And DD. I looked at the blog today, I will be waiting until 1st March to sow my toms but I think chillis and peppers will be sown in mid Feb because I didn't get a single pepper last year I feel they need a longer growing season and I had a glut of chillis but I'm sure they wont mind being sown a little earlier!

Thanks for the ideas and suppliers details e.t.c

Next time you replace your windscreen wiper blades the stainless steel strips in the rubbers make good hoops for supporting the bags. :)
