Have just seen a galvanised treadle poultry feeder advertised...hen stands on base and their weight opens the feeder...helps to discourage vermin as they aren't heavy enough apparently. Has anyone used one and has it been ok. I've got 3 ex batts and one of them is quite small....not convinced her body weight would open the feeder?

I have no experience but I am sure that they work. For the first couple of days put a brick on the treadle and then they get the hang of it, take it off (the brick) and hey presto.  Where did you see it for sale?

Thanks. i came across it on the interent somewhere but no idea where.....you know how it is...you start browsing and the rest is history  I'm going to give it a go tho'....whe I find it again......

I that is the case, here is a solution.

Cable tie a weight to the  treadle to give the bantie extra.
