I wont be bothering with Mooli again, tastes awful.
Infact everything "oriental" that we grew this year has either bolted straight away or tasted disgusting, will be sticking to the tried and trusted traditional veg from now on.

Baby sweetcorn - same size plant as big sweetcorn and just as many cobs so not worth doing really- but hey I tried!
Wash your hands, stay at home, distance yourself

Off next years list : -

BNS - Total waste of space.
Carrots - 5 Years and I've not had 1 yet.
PSB - Its done S.W.F.A. in 4 months, destined for the compost heap next weekend.
Outdoor tomatoes-  The lot turn to mush for the 4th year in a row, Im calling it a day.
Shallots - Just what exactly is their point anyway?
1st Early spuds - far too much hassle scraping scab of small spuds.

... practically nothing left  :D

I'm with the anti-calabrese brigade - they just don't justify the amount of space they take up.
I'll be trying a couple of blight resistant tomato varieties.
The jury's still out on peas - delicious but a bit too faffy  ::)

celeriac.. dont eat them and not so many beans...dont eat them, not so many potatoes...got far too many.....red cabbage... dont eat them...... cucumbers....too many to eat......I will definitely grow sweetcorn... great crop.... squashes.... brilliant crop....jalapeno chillies.... great results.......carrots... great results in the enviromesh barrier. Am I the only one who gets a great sense of satisfaction walking past the veg aisles in the local supermarket? I say to my husband in a very loud voice, we dont need any veg this week, we'll have this and this and this from the allotment!!

Won't bother with as many runners as the dwarf french beans were great and less black fly! Will keep my gardeners delight tomato outside at home and use the greenhouse for more amish paste (great with cheese on toast!). Swedes seem to have no flavour yet so maybe try a different variety next year. More sweetcorn though as did well...and different types of pumpkin  too.  Defo putting in overwintering onions as they were HUGE! :D

Maincrop potatoes - they are a bit flavourless and flour-ey and we have too many potatoes anyway. If we need some big potatoes like that they are cheap enough from the supermarket. We will just do first and second earlies, perhaps the same types as this year - swift were very quick, and Wilja were very tasty, so both worth doing.

Might not bother with tomatoes again, we got about 4 small ones before they got blight, or will try to find a blight resistant variety and spray them with dithane.

All our brassicas (sprouts, broccoli, calabrese etc) are on a last warning - none of them have grown above knee height and no crops from any of them. Will try again next year and give them more TLC, but if nothing after that then they will be out I think!

Outdoor tomatoes.....blight :o(

indoor tomatoes....blight.....well....ok....maybe ONE more go next year?  ;)

Purple sprouting broccoli? They just look a mess and there's nowt to eat off them yet (although, I think they give up goodies later on?)

Yard Long Beans, this years trial is a failure. Of the four plants in the greenhouse three died and the survivor has about four flowers on it.
Will be lucky to get a 6" bean , no chance of 36".

For me these are the definite NO's,

Carrots: never had success with them in the last few years
Peppers and chillies: I feel they too temperamental and not always great
Aubergine : Tried so hard without any success.
All the Brassica Family  : too many problems, birds, rabbits, butterflies etc.

"But kohl rabi is out next year - we haven't found anything to do with it really"

Boil beetroot, peel and dice.  Mix in with raw Kohl Rabi.  Add Greek yoghurt and a good dollop of horseradish to taste.

Fantastic colour on the plate to boot!

"Baby sweetcorn - same size plant as big sweetcorn and just as many cob"

Our kids like the mini corns, and they are expensive in the shops.   Had great success with Mini Corn in the greenhouse.  Much sweeter than the shop-bought ones. (I took the male flowers off as soon as they formed to prevent pollination - just in case)
