I never saw a forecast which predicted a frost in southern UK, in any event, if was forecast for the early hours of this morning, not last night!

We have got one here. The current air temp according to our local weather station is 0.1oC and the car roofs are white.

They did say we might get a frost in the south - with overnight temps around 1-2. However not a sign of a frost here either - phew!

I was more referring to the previous poster, who lived on the Kent coast.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Didn't see much evidence of frost at first sight here at Birmingham. But, when walking onto the lawn I do see some ice patches here and there. Lettuce closer to the house and raised from the ground looks just fine for now. It's the only thing I had out that would be sensitive (I assume).

Cars not frosted but grass in garden and house roof still white in places where the sun hasn't got to yet. Covered the potatoes yesterday, made more difficult because I'm growing them through black plastic so couldn't earth them up. Put clear plastic cover over potatoes as all fleece used in the greenhouse to protect seedlings in there. Didn't cover the peas so hope they survived. Will have a look when in go to the lottie today.
A few folk has put out courgettes and squash plants and others had beans coming through. I hope they are all ok.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

What we had would not have hurt peas. You can safely take it off.

Was I being a bit overprotective do you think

I couldn't bear the thought of loosing the peas after getting them this far and I will kick myself if they have been frost bitten.

:( -1.5 last night so says my weather station, I fear for my spuds that were just poking through.

I had my chillis and toms out yesterday for their 1st trip out. I went shopping, took 2 hours longer than expected and got home at6pm to find them wilting like mad. I fear I have just killed my beloved chillis :(:(:(

It is times like this when I question whether it is really worth it trying to grow warm weather crops in such a fickle climate as the UK.

Having said that I am planning to sow courgettes in pots indoors this weekend.
