The forecast here in Devon and Cornwall has not been below 5 degrees all week, and is now likely to be not less than  9 degrees.
My cat is still out in the woods tonight as I type, doing whatever she does there, so it must be almost balmy. She'd soon be in if it were anything approaching cold.

The south west is not in the frost risk area due to cloud from an approaching frontal system. It is central and  eastern counties where the skies will clear and temperature will drop sharply. Rural areas could get below zero.

Glad I got the potatoes earthed up yesterday evening.

Our local forecast is for - 2Deg C, and all the tender annuals are safely back in the greenhouse, stacked even under the staging. I shall have to get them out early tomorrow as the sunshine forecast will certainly heat that greenhouse up quickly

The potatoes will now have to take their chance, as they are sticking out of the last possible earthing up.

They fibbed :D Just took a temp reading from the middle of our large garden. 10 c with a 7mph breeze.
Looks like all will be ok on the plot so no blankets needed for the spuds at least :D
May the fork be with you

I never saw a forecast which predicted a frost in southern UK, in any event, if was forecast for the early hours of this morning, not last night!

We have got one here. The current air temp according to our local weather station is 0.1oC and the car roofs are white.

Fingers crossed for you there SK. I dont know if it would help but I remember a friend of mine would lightly spray his fuchsias with water if they got caught in a frost. I suppose it warmed them up slightly while washing the frost off. He claimed it worked anyway

0 or 3 here depending on which side of the minimax I read!  Not too much to worry about, the sweetcorn is in the workshop where it only went down to 6, and the potatoes are earthed up.  Think I will get on and sow squashes today!

Was 3C here at 6am with frost on cars but not on grass. Hopefully a lucky escape as I didn't cover all the plants with fleece in the polytunnel yesterday or earth up all the potatoes.

:( -1.5 last night so says my weather station, I fear for my spuds that were just poking through.

I had my chillis and toms out yesterday for their 1st trip out. I went shopping, took 2 hours longer than expected and got home at6pm to find them wilting like mad. I fear I have just killed my beloved chillis :(:(:(

We had a ground frost here, so glad I covered my peas with fleece they are just about an inch above ground and would not benefit from the frost. I don't see any other forecast for frost so am I safe to take the fleece off today?

They did say we might get a frost in the south - with overnight temps around 1-2. However not a sign of a frost here either - phew!
