GROUND FROST RISK TONIGHT !!!!!!
Sunday night I covered my spuds with fleece - went to allotment today to find some of them have got black leaves!!! - in fact, some spuds I didn't cover are looking better than those I covered. I can only assume it could be because the fleece is tightly pressing on leaves, and fleece and leaves got wet/frost on them. Quite gutted really. Lets hope tonight is warmer  :?

Am I the only one who didn't get a frost last night?
Was bit chilly though, but everything outside was fine.
All fleeced up tonight though (the planted stuff) and pots gone inside, to be safe
Hope your plants recover, those who had frost.

No, I don't believe we had any frosts in Manchester, in any case I didn't see evidence of frost and my plants were fine. Although I heard on the weather report there would be a frost tonight so I took NO chances and hauled everything that I could inside/fleeced everything else, lots of messing about. It's ridiculous at this time of year.

NO! I was manic up there at teatime, and someone was txting me & I replied "you'll have to WAIT, I'm fleecing my veggies!" That person is in North Devon, where they dunno what proper 'frost' is....and told me "they'll never get tough that way"    My parting shot was "They'll never get tough if they die, either!"

Ruby, all limbs crossed for ya ie no frost in your parts. Looked ok here too earlier, but I worry about later, when I'm in bed & my plants might be screeeeaming out in bitter cold
Toilet seat is cold, I know that much.

Woke up to a beautiful morning and tentatively looked up the garden. Phew everything untouched. I know I took a risk shoving everything out but I think Im fairly protected by the walls. Even the peppers are out against a wall.   My veg will be the toughest in the village. They will be going round in pairs. lol

looked out the bedroom window this morning.. frost on the roof tops. Went to the plot before work and didn't dare look, as I forgot to cover my spuds.... Everything is tip top so I am happy..

If it's the frost that has got them, I'm afraid they won't recover.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
