Got a quick half hour to re-net the brassicas, dig out the last carrots, and 2 barrows of the lovely new manure pile (full of poo!) dumped ready on the plot.     Back tomorrow for a few more loads.

Harvested quite a few things-turnips/beetroots/sprouts/florence fennel which felt good. Broad beans just showing their noses.

Dug up the last of the spuds today from my red, white and blue planting.

Took the tops off weeks ago to avoid blight contamination of the tubers

That was my plan for Saturday (lifting the last of the potatoes - two rows!) but I think I'll need to catch the train to visit family instead... awaiting a phone call.

Collected another 30 bags of straw/horse manure to spread out over the beds next time I'm off from work. They'll rot down over winter and be just about right next spring!!  The more strawey stuff will go in the compost heap! ;)

Planted some more garlic, dug up the dahlias and planted some tulips to brighten the plot up in spring, and looked sadly at my leeks  :( most of which have been destroyed by leek moth.

Yesterday put in two more raised beds and 'recycled' Anderson shelter that we replaced with a new shed.
The Anderson shelter is now a hooooooooge oval bed that will gradually fill up with compost and manure and will have pumpkins growing in it. Amazed at how strong the metal still is given that is it probably 75 years old? Busted two drill bits trying  to make holes to bolt the bits back together.
Used a heavy roller to flatten the area around the paths that will be covered in mypex and bark chippings. That's to be done during this week.
Phew ...... Plot 3 makeover nearly finished.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

Nothing major, put the last pot and canes away, before turning over the compost heap. Did however cut a pile of logs ready for the cold snap!
Cheers

Cycled down in my lunch hour as kids at school were absolute horrors  needed some good fresh air- screwed some hooks into the back of the shed to hold bundles of canes, and it looks nice and tidy now

Left well pleased with myself.  (had fresh raspberrys for lunch  :tongue2:)

Went early today straight after school drop off. Freezng at first then by lunch time sunny and working in short sleeves!
Bravely took net off cauliflower, sprouts and PSB so hope ok  ???
Weeded them and pea bed and tidied up all canes and frames.
Chopped back blackberries but will dig them up later. Too much hassle keeping them as so thorny, hardly able to harvest any berries.
Had enjoyable and very productive day as not been to plot for couple of weeks  :)
