Well, I read this thread then headed down to my local garden centre to see if they had a 10p sale - and they did! :D

Was quite restrained in that i only bought 7 packets, but that was primarily because the selection left was very limited.  At least i know i'm not alone...

It's going to be interesting  next year as it will be the first year that we won't have seeds for sale in our own shop!  Will have to go to a garden centre or apply for a brochure because I won't be able to just help myself to what I want from the stand.  Do have two biscuit tins of seeds to sort through first though!

At last!

Batchelors Bigga Peas ready to sow for Xmonius Salads pea shoots!

Bought four packets of them In Snazberries, and cleared the shelf - hope they work...:0)

Are they really viable seeds, Growster?

I purchased Bigga seeds from my local grocery shop and planted them and they all sprouted. Would have had a great crop except for a) I didn't give them support and the mice ate quite a few pods on the ground and b) we had a terrible drought and heatwave this past summer that quickly killed off the plants.

Next year the supports will be ready and a heavy mulch applied around the plants.

Only got my allotment at the end of October, and already It's true, I'm officially SAD - "Making a list and checking it more than twice" if not more times of what seeds I have and how many in what month I will be planting, and now left with a list of those seeds I need to buy. And I'm enjoying doing it

We're going to try for just the pea shoots, Ann!

Mrs Growster says I can borrow the kitchen window sill...

I've searched for the ways to do it here, but somehow the search engine doesn't seem to like the question...

We grew some very successfully at school, using a seed tray and compost  :D

Don't foget a drip tray

And a narrower container might fit on your windowsill better tbh

Good advise, KC, many thanks!

As there's so much clutter on our kitchen window sill, we may even graduate to the conserv, but let's see!

The reason why I grew my Biggas was strictly for sprouts rather than larger shoots. Good healthy eating either way.

Thanks again, Trills!

They seem pretty powerful for something so light and tender!

We were also advised that sowing chick peas works the same way, and you can eat the whole thing, seed and all!

Well, I have been a very good girl!  ::)  Haven't bought a seed since the summer and just donated a good two dozen to the seed parcel, so maybe I'm cured?

No way.

Wait until to really dark winter days & nights and you reach for those seeds catalogues to remind you of warmer days.

Only when you put them away without ordering are you cured.

And you'll be the first.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
