Went out to check garden plants this morning and notice d two things a stem on nasturtiums with what I thought were lots of little caterpillars muncing away... turned out they were all dried and flat then I noticed small shiney black pin heads on another leaf I looked closer and spotted a wasp(poss a hoverfly but not moving) holding on with it's mouth to quite a large caterpillar within just a few minutes only the small black head of the caterpillar remained and the wasp was gone. I'm now reluctant to remove all the caterpillars because I'd much rather encourage predatory wildlife. Has anyone else seen anything similar? Would it have been a wasp?

I netted my brassicas for the first time this year having previously tried a combination of picking off the eggs and caterpillars (almost impossible when working full time, especially as the nights start to draw in) and spraying (necessary evil at the time.........too many caterpillars etc and too little time). I would like to say they have done brilliantly and are looking extremely healthy, not having been 'stopped' by too many bugs. Now whitefly that's another problem, never had it so bad  this year.

Yes, the waspies are doing a grand job clearing the caterpillars in my garden so i don`t mind if they have a few plums while their at it.
Not a single grub to be found in the plums this year so i have a few to spare.
