I dont know about anybody else but round here there seems to be dozens of cabbage whites on the wing, i can recall on Big Dig the welsh chap making a deterrant from rhubarb leaves fermenting in a barrel of water anybody tried this, does it work and what sort of dosage did you use? Also im sure rhubarb leaves are poisonous, will this find its way into the cabbage plant and therefore be eaten by yours truly.

It was supposed to repel the cabbage whites...but even as he was spraying them they were still landing on his cabbages ::)
Let's see what someone else says. I still think it must be easier to net them

I saw an organic insecticide in a garden centre and the major ingredient seemed to be rape oil. Since I use this to fry my chips it must be safe.

Lady on the plot next door does that with rhubarb leaves and says that it works.  :)

If you want to net them you could buy debris netting from Ebay - much cheaper than garden netting and works really well - that is what we use anyway. Had a crowd round my cauli's today commenting that there isn't a mark on them  Pure fluke. I've never grown em before. Stuck em in the ground last november, covered em in net and ignored em ever since til I weeded em last week)
