not sure on spraying but why not invest in netting or fleece to throw over the plants?

Nothing will deter them.

You can spray the caterpillars with a natural pyrethrins such as Scotts "Bug Clear for Fruit and Veg" which is a quick knock down. You can harvest after just 1 day.

If you just have a few plants pick them off by hand and rub out any clusters of yellow eggs.

I notice the caterpillars are being attacked by parasitic wasps. Where there was a caterpillar there is now a cluster of tiny cocoons. Eventually these will control the caterpillars but probably not before they have reduced your plants to lattice. Sprays will also knock out these wasps so a bit catch 22.

Google cabbage white eggs and you will see what they look like.

If worried try a photo.

The small green lumps are cabbage poo! (it's called Frass).
I also thought that they were eggs until I asked here.........http://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?topic=108225.msg1219623#msg1219623

Going back to my post of couple of weeks ago. My greyhound cabbage had been eaten by caterpillars and reduced to stalks! Have kept them growing and they have few leaves on each now. Is it way too late to bother with them now? Reluctant to throw them away if chance that I will even get mini cabbages!
