I gave it the wrong name originally Rom.

It's called Crookneck  there's  good explanations for it HERE and HERE

i think parathyroid is the medical term for it, chook keepers have various names, crookneck, limber neck, seahorse syndrome, i think it's all the same thing, basically a brain injury, i still think you deserve 10/10 for finding it :)

I think polands can suffer with it too because they have the same domed skull.

yup Aunty, Polands and silkies are prone to it, Will told me, he also said he had himself had 2 birds with it, both appeared to be recovering, one then had a relapse and died, when the other relapsed he culled it, i think he was trying to tell me nicely not to have too much hope :(

on a good note though, Sam is as we speak building a new banty house for the silkies and polands to share, with a high roof, we are now paranoid that the e-bay banty house is not suitable for them as when they jump from the perch to the nest box there's a risk they could bang their heads on the sloping roof, i think he may have forgiven her for the Barbie prank :D

Perhaps you could make a little metal helmet to protect her brain Romney  ;)

Aunty, got a bit carried away with the incy and broody hens, we now have 8 pure white silkie chicks and 2 crossbreeds (they have the tell tale top not) including the polands and the Trotters, that's 19 with the potential for head bashing and brain damaging :)

Well, thats a relief, will she ever be 100%?
We have 17 chickens, 3 quail, 2 dogs, 3 cats and that's enough (for this week)

she's been in my room for 12 days now, she no longer thinks of herself as a chicken, but possibly a human or a cat, not really sure what i should do with her as i don't want to put her back with the others as they are now outside and she might get picked on, i know she can't stay in here forever....................

She could be a house chicken! They make nappies for chickens don't they?  How funny would that be?  :nowink:
