Yep she sure was and she loves being at the plot.

I have also given Keith my Father-in-Law the title of Estates Manager.

Well if Jamie Oliver can have one so can i!

Well my father-in-law purchased a small pollytunnel today which i believe he has put up over our carrots and lettuce seeds. Ive not had a chance to visit the plot today as i am on sales training all week, but i'm sure it will keep mr pidgeon at bay!

Had a great day at the plot today which at the beginning of the day looked like this!

After a good session i achieved this!

I gave the camera to my daughters who managed to get a cheeky snap of me in!

What made my day was this little chap forraging for grubs about 2 foot from where i was digging. I was amazed at how brave he was!

Hope you like, Glen

The best way to do it - a section at a time. You're certainly blessed with good digging weather.

To be honest it was lovely while we were at the plot but half hour after we got home it poured down!

So i think i am blessed with 'good timing' as well!

Its snowing today so no chance of getting to the plot!  :( , i feel like a child who has had his favourite toy taken off him!  :(

Rubbish weather!!

well done m8, theres some major graft gone in there....digging is one of my fave parts of the job mainly cos ive always been an avid bird watcher.i like to dig a bit then sit down while the blackbirds come for the worms, its great entertainment and costs nothing - always a bonus in my  book :)

Withnail the green handled tool is a lawn edger. I was using it simply to define my bed edges and found it handy when removing the turf that had grown over.

I'm afraid i have no 'secret' when it comes to getting such a good soil. I spend alot of time breaking it down when i trun it over but to be honest we are lucky at our allotment site as the soil is pretty good to start with.

According to our Council this bed i am digging is ment to be quite unproductive as there is a huge Horse Chestnut tree (you can see it behind me in the picture my daughters took of me) just the other side of our boundary fence. This is why they classed my plot as a half plot! However, i dont think this bed will be to bad? There are no roots coming in to my bed and the soil seems to turn over easy and be quite clean? Maybe time will tell but we have put some Rhubarb in, so we will see how this goes.

Another good session yesterday at the allotment! After a disaster with our Wilko's purchased cloche we decided to go DIY.

We have also started digging Bed 3 which is turning over well. However we have found some large roots about a spades head depth down from our neighbours Horsechestnut tree.

personally i`d chop the root off to the edge of the bed , wont kill the tree but will stop it nicking all the moisture.
u got carrots under the cloche?
and how did u attach it to the wood - staples?
