Sprout leaves being eaten
« on: August 22, 2012, 16:00 »
Hi all, this is the first time I've tried growing sprouts. I grew them from seed & planted them out in late Spring. The plants have been growing ok I think, about 16-18 in. Recently though the leaves are being eaten, I have found a dozen or so green & sort of brown & green caterpillars that I assume have been doing the damage.

Is it too late to do something about this, some tiny sproutlets have formed, about the size of a match head.

What would you recommend.......happy to net, use chemicals.......or nuke from orbit if necessary  >:(  :)

Thanks

Chris

Now your options are to pick them off and squash them or RHS advises

Spray with pyrethrum (Py Spray Garden Insect Killer) Scotts Bug Clear Gun for Fruit & Veg
Check the container for how many times you are allowed to spray the crop each year though.
