Looks like mosaic virus to me.

I get it every year on my courgettes etc - you're supposed to remove affected leaves and sometimes plants, but I don't tend to bother and still get crops.

Out of interest, do you smoke?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

As the weather has been warm and wet perhaps these forms of fungus/ mildew will be unavoidable this year.

It's definitely not mildew, although I agree with your general sentiment, japagow

Downy mildew looks exactly likes it sounds: white, soft and fluffy! It is like a powdery coating a bit like someone's gone bananas with the talc.  If you get it a spray of milk and water (1:5 I think) works quite well.

Sadly the yellowing near the veins on your leaf could be the start of something nasty or could simply be a lack of nutrients. Give them a feed tomorrow and see if it improves (tomato feed will do fine).

Good luck

Actually having blown up your picture and looked at it better I'm inclined to go along with the bad news given before. It does look like the start of mosaic I'm afraid. Nutritional deficit would be a more general yellowing I think. Sorry.

I've attached some more pics. If it's mosaic virus am I best off to destroy the plant or is it worth leaving it and feeding.

No, I don't.

I agree it could be mosaic virus but given that it looks as if it's being grown in isolation anyway I'd remove the worst leaf (and the dead one underneath it), feed with a tomato fertiliser and see what happens.

Wash your hands after handling the plant (plant viruses don't affect humans but can transfer to other plant hosts, although it's usually aphids which spread them around.)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older
