Downy mildew on onions
« on: June 30, 2016, 15:55 »
Hello. Until yesterday I was feeling pretty happy with the way the onions were looking despite the humidity and almost constant drizzle. Today when I looked they suddenly seem to be collapsing and I'm pretty sure that it's downy mildew.
Has anyone had experience of this? It's a first for me, although I've had problems with white rot before. Any tips on what to do now. Do I pull off affected leaves, dig them all up, or just start using them and not think about trying to store them?
Thanks for any advice.

RHS says pull off minor affected leaves or remove whole plant if severely affected.

Try to improve air circulation if weeds are present or the onions are too close together.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
