I thought of my plot, from the relative warmth of indoors with a cat on my lap!
Oh Yorkie... you disappoint me..  ;)

Had a good few days at the lottie on Sat and Sun.. I double dug over the area where my currants are going 3mt x 5.. pulled out / collected about 2 wheelie bins of bad perennial weed roots and couch.. then found out the 2 black currant bushes promised by a neighbour turned out to be brambles... "but they do have black fruit he said!!"  :tongue2:

Moved all the spare flagstones off the proposed tomato bed and gave away to a plot  neighbour all the broken flags I've collected and dug up recently. He used them to make a floor for his shed.

Replaced my small lean to roof shelter with a stronger version which is over my doorway on my shed which was too weak and got ripped off by the wind the other night!!  It protects me from the hot sun and rain when I sit under it to have a brew... It also directs rain water into the shed gutters..

Made a roof over the IBC area to catch more rain water.. I can now catch 60 gallons (270 LT) of rain from a 1" rain shower.. !! I now collect from the shed, GH, Cold frame and now the IBC roof.. How cool is that!

Planted a double line of peas (mange toute and some freebies from BirdsEye) in guttering in my GH as I have not dug their patch yet..

Sowed my gemsquash, courgettes, butternut and hubbards in my spare bedroom.

Manured most of the rest of the plot ready for digging in asap and collected and stockpiled more freebie manure we get delivered to site ready for the final parts to get dug.. Hope it dries up soon so I can dig, dig, dig!! I should be ready in time as I plan to plant out all my courgettes, sweetcorn, peas, cabbage and beans in mid May... I assume this will be the right time..  so 5 weeks to double dig 12 mt x 5... I'm double digging the whole plot as it was in a really baaaaaaaaad state.. Oh and I need to ridge up my spuds before they show through.!!

Nothing at the plot due to the rain.  However put out some seedlings to harden off.  Contemplated the plot plan and decided I don't have enough room.  Still not entirely sure where everything is going to go.  I am hoping something will turn up! Ordered some veggiemesh for the carrot bed.

Sewed a net curtain so it'll fit over my carrots. Going to get some enviromesh next year but got nets that need using so might as well.

And, er, moved everything from greenhouse with no roof (don't ask) into other greenhouse before it got flooded.

I didn't get to the plot today as its been raining most of the day, really wish I had a water butt.

Anyway, I sowed some seeds, hopefully I am not too early/late, sprouts, pumpkins, tomatoes, chillies, sweet peppers. Is it too early to sow some cucumbers? They are Burpless if that makes any difference.

Burpless is an outdoor variety and you dare not plant them out whilst there is a risk of frost. (Same with the pumpkins). I will not be sowing mine until towards the end of this month.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Thanks DD,

I will wait for a couple of weeks before sowing the cucumbers. I am hoping to get to the plot tomorrow but am finding it a bit overwhelming if I am honest...One part is ok and ready to go with minimal work but the other bit is covered in weeds and brambles...I needed to get something sown to feel like its not just back killing work work work!!

I'dd love to go up the plot today but I'm not feeling very well at all so all I've been able to do is pot some peppers up.

Sowed another batch of peas in the unheated g/house aat home then off to the allotment
and planted a few dwarf peas to make room in the cold frame at home and to empty a seed tray for re-use.
Finally made up a cold frame using some leftover tanalised timber from another project.

Note to self: Need to finish off the bed frame cold frame too

Marked out the beds and started erecting canes for the climbing peas.

Had a chat with a neighbour whilst the dogs played together.
 :)

After yesterday's rain that lasted from at least 8am (when I got up) to 6pm, today is quite pleasant if you avoid the sharp showers.  8)

Attached a couple clear plastic sides to the chicken run & fitted guttering.
Tidied the Hens shed & stood it up higher on some blocks.
Probably plant out some peas & turnips I started off in the plastic greenhouse later when I shut the hens into their slabbed area for the evening or maybe tomorrow.

went out and got the proper fittings to connect the 3 slimline butts in my back garden, at least the hose on these is a lot bigger, when I tested one, I could fill the butt faster than it could equalise.

i covered the carrot seedlings with fleece, planted out the peas (carouby de mussane), leeks, cabbage and brocolli. Also decided to sow some more hundred and thousand toms. transplanted 40 kale seedling into individule modules (ive got 80 in total now ???) and i also transplanted loads of toms into pots.
