Popped up late this afternoon to check on the greenhouse as we have been away since Thursday and I was worried everything would be frazzled but it was ok, my plot neighbours had been looking after them for me.

The carrots in the half barrels were noticeably larger, as were the bulbs of the onions and the earthed up potatoes need earthing up again!

All the spinach and leaf beet has gone to seed annoyingly and it looks like the chard is going to flower soon.  The flower border was stunning today, so took a couple of photos with and without the children and then cut some to bring home.

I did a little weeding, covered the gooseberry bushes with netting against the birds, watered, watered and watered some more.

A good tidy up and much re-arrangement of pots.  :)
Dropped three Nine Star Perennial plants over to Lacewings plot - just haven't got the space for them so I can put my chard and kale in now.  :D
Watered the 'spare' toms.
Found one of my first sowing of courgettes (presumed deed) coming up. Had furtled and pared off the outside edge so more furtling and paring tomorrow.  ::)

Very successful day..
Planted out 60 Dwarf French beans (Green and purple)
Planted 50 sweetcorn in a block
Planted marigolds around carrots to deter carrot fly
Picked tops of broad beans to avoid blackly but noticed that dwarf broad beans have been attacked already
Watered peas as loads of pods now.
Planted out peas that germinated in paper cups.
Moved courgettes and squash into garden to  finally harden off as space made by planting out French beans and sweetcorn
Watered greenhouse and runner beans
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

Some people have been busy......

I managed to begin, at very long last, removing the turf and preparing a kitchen veg patch at the end of the garden. It's not huge (about 16' x 20') but will be nearby for salad crops and fresh beans once it's producing.

Tomorrow evening I'll do a little more once I've been down to the plot to plant and water.

Yesterday began with mass watering, then planted out courgettes in a newly-prepared bed, a couple of cucumbers under pop-bottle cloches, some bush tomatoes that were getting a little too much heat in the greenhouse, and some companion planting of tagetes and calendulas. Then anti-slug defences; weeding the spinach bed; propping up onions which have started to grow on the slant. Meanwhile my trusty helpers planted out more beans (Blue Lake french climbers), and planted seed for these and for the runners (White Emergo).

A good session.

Had not visted plot for several days mainly due to fact that OH grows bedding plants for us and our two grown up children which means we have three gardens to tidy up prior to us planting bedding, also had grand children sleep over at weekend. Have had a quick look at plot all growing well with weeds growing even better so plan a hoeing weeding session later today.
Retired but never short of a job.

Lots of potting on at home. Still putting out stuff to harden off.  Glad when I can put things in this weekend.
Went up to the plot and did weeding and watering.   Mulched the strawberries with straw.  Picked some rhubarb.
The allotments officer turned up for an inspection.  On behalf of the Committee I managed to agree we could have 1 skip for rubbish.   Our request for a vacant plot to be allocated to the Association for communal use has been accepted.  We are to get plot 25 which is near trees, but we can do something with it I am sure.
Council also investigating costs for a higher fence to keep out the little varmints.  Repeated our perennial complaint about empty plots.
