A day of mixed emotions today,
Picked first strawberries, wonderful taste.
Hoed loads of weeds.
Disappointed to see that  less than 50% of Tendergreen dwarf beans have appeared so far they were sown about three weeks ago some are 6" plus others no show.

Retired but never short of a job.

Courgettes planted, prize winning pumkins planted, more toms planted, first broad beans picked and having them for tea

waging war on slugs.  I usually just just ping them but after eating some of my french beans, I have resorted to organic friendly pellets and choping with my trowel.

Planted out 2 'Pinstripe F1' aubergines (the other 3 are in the greenhouse - 50/50 chnace of success either way I reckon) ;)
Weeded 3 beds in the drizzly rain and walked home.
I too ate my first strawberry - I get a bit obsessive and weigh my fruit as I pick it each year (to work out which years have been the best) but the first ripe strawb must be munched!

Planted more melon and cucumbers this time outside.
Planted leeks using rhe dibber hole, watered In method.
Dug over last area.
Watered greenhouse plants

Spoke to plot holders, found out that only one half of site has been served with notice to quit. apparently a family squabble amongst thd landowners had brought this to head. My plot Is safe, but that means nothing if the other plots have to go. It is a terrible situation.
its nice to be important, but it more important to be nice......

Completely cleared path between my plot and neighbour. I kept being told it was my job to sort it!
laid black plastic to keep clear of weeds.
Dug over runner bean trench and planned to put runners in but ran out of time.
Put up two 3m sets of canes and netting for French climbing beans
Weeded parsnip, Beetroot, broad beans, and carrots.
Raked second plot ready for raised beds to be built tomorrow.
Stood back and admired all hard work
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

general tidy up, including strawberry munching! my 70 (yes 70) runner bean plants are past the uprights and climbing up the sloped part of my Munty frame, and have red flowers appearing! Hurrah!!
small, Welsh and almost certainly bonkers, but can be tamed with Talisker, if required

I dug over the Courgette plaot and got them in the ground. I add weed supressing membrane to control weeds and stop the courgette from rotting on the soil, works for me.

Planted out some celeriac.
Planted 2 rows of 'Tweed' swedes (never grown swedes before).
Planted 2 rows of Florence Fennel (hoping this type is bolt resistant!)
6 lovely eggs from my lovely ladies (so far) and did the weekly clean.
 :)

You lucky people.  The rain is too heavy here to even consider going down the allotment.  Let's hope its dry tomorrow.

Spent a couple of hours this morning pulled a few weeds cut the grass path .
Planted the last of the lupin I grew from seed should have a good display next year.
They are in an area under some trees so in semi shade but will get enough sunlight.
Home for lunch ( shopping with the wife at Newcastle this afternoon )
Hope the frost forecast is not going to happen.

Nothing today as I woke to a massive Migraine...

But over the last few days I've prepared the plot for the best kept plot competition and then planted out:
55 sweetcorn
30 mini cob sweetcorn
10 butternut
2 anchocha
6 outside + 6 inside toms
1 marrow
52 gem squash - (at the plot and home GH)
20 Cabbage
30 mixed lettuce and green salads
100 leeks

netted the brassicas
sowed 2 mt of beetroot
earthed up the potatoes

Now a member of the 10 Ton club.... 2013  harvested 588 Kg from 165 sq mt..

OMGoodness that is truly amazing Gavin.
I've potted up hanging baskets with tomatoes, late strawberry, and marigolds.
Also put sunflowers in final place in garden as they were my Dads favourite and I grow them every year in his memory.
Have kohl rabi and cabbage to go in later today
