HELP!! Abnormal Poop
« on: August 16, 2011, 15:53 »
Hi Guys,

Ok, I got Two chickens from a poultry Auction a few weeks ago ( Noone Bid on them, as they were 3 years old Maran Hybrids, So felt sorry for the poor old girls and got them do £1 each.

I Kept then separate from the rest of the Girls Etc for 2 weeks, they have now been in with the main flock for a little over 4 or 5 days now.. One Died the same day i put them with the main flock..ALL her Feathers apart from wing feathers fell out and and she died in a heap in amongst them, The Second one JUST like 5 mins ago, Did the Most Strange poop i have EVER seen, I went in to collect Eggs, and i happened to glance through the pop hole and saw the chook in Question So what can Only be described as Rusty water Projectile poop, It was Like Rusty water, and there was like 5 or 6 HUGE squirts of it. she then Ran off to the Dust bath,  It Literally looked like Rusty water, Both Colour and consistency.

Anyone got ANY clue what this may be? Do i have an Alien chicken? lol
I now have the chicken bug woot i love the Poland's

is it warm where you are at the moment?

Hens drink to cool down (as they don't sweat), and the excess water is eliminated as very watery faeces.

My own flock have been doing liquid poos for three days now, as the temps have risen to summer again!

Keep an eye on it. You will probably find it goes back to normal and she ate something to upset her. If it continues it could be something more serious.
