Willing to share some of my allotment, in stamford
« Reply #1 on: July 29, 2011, 21:02 »
Hi, I'm new to allotments and forums, I've recently been lucky enough to get a large allotment, we have now cleared it of weeds (well nearly) and discovered if is a lot larger than we first thought, rather than struggling with it, I wondered if anyone in the Stamford area wanted to help with a piece of it, it would be a reasonable size to grow veg etc on. Let me know if your interested thanks xx

Hi LPTF

It is really complicated if you start two threads on the same topic.  I'm going to remove your earlier post, and move the reply to it onto here, to keep them together.

Edit - oops, that doesn't look right!

It's because the reply is earlier in time than the new thread!

Folks - it's Littlepinktoothfairy who started this thread and has the space to offer !!!

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Good for you.
That is how I got into it (after following in footsteps of most of the family quite by chance!):a friend gave me a small patch on his allotment that I grew things on and I really got into it bigtime, and then added my name to waiting list and got my own. I am now doing the same on one of my plots for another friend to see how they get on before they decide to go for it

Just make sure with your allotment authority that sub-letting is not banned by them.

Sounds good. If submerging is a prob, we could perhaps share it in name?

I dont really want to sub let, we have just got a bit too much space, wanted to help someone out and let them plant on a bit of our allotment, maybe a quater of it, but it is a large plot

Make sure it's ok with your allotment authority as the can evict you if you do it against their rules.

I am happy to do whatever, as long as you don't get into trouble. I am on the waiting list, and said I would be happy to share or help out a pensioner who was struggling and he seemed happy with that proposal. Let me know what you decide :-)

Hello, I really just wanted a very casual arrangement, I have spoken to the man at the council and as long as I don't take any money off you that's fine, and as long as it's still our allotment so if we move on, you move off as well etc. But seriously at the moment the whole allotment is weeds!! We have cut them right down etc. Just waiting for them to die, it would be a lot of hard work!

Would it be a good idea for me to come and have a look? I teach, so have a lot of time now, but less during term time, so if hard work digging etc is done by then I can do it!
