What do you do with old bamboo canes? Does anyone re-use them the following year? Do you turn them into mulch? I seem to be collecting loads of them due to my fondness for growing runner beans in patio pots.

I re use them, over and over again. or if they are split i turn them into row markers by cutting them down, or you could make insect houses out of bundles of cur down ones, or cut the split bit off and use them as shorter supports for peas...
Possibilities are (almost) endless i am sure.

we are trying to grow our own, when the plant in the garden gets big enough we will transplant some to each half plot to have a ready supply.

Got loads growing along the track by us.  One of the neighbours has it along the edge of his land, it is a nuisance there, it scratches the cars as we drive past and he wont cut it back!

I reuse mine ... I only buy the long ones, older ones become short when the bit-stuck-in-the-ground rots etc!
