I know Wilkinsons sells them pretty cheap where I live and I think they're national.

Wilkos sell 5 for £1.98 I think
All the way from my allotment in beautiful Derbyshire. I'm in year 3 of my allotment and wish I'd caught the bug years ago, things growing from strength to strength

SCATS Countrystores were 19p each for the 8foot ones last year-havent bought any this year but wouldnt have thought theyd have gone up that much.

On E-Bay the canes are around £22 including the delivery cost for 50 canes or if you wanted 100 canes it's around £35 including delivery which works out around 35p a cane

I ordered 100 couple of years back and they are keeping me going strong

I am in much the same situation, trying to work out the cheapest way to support my runner beans!  Spend quite a bit on gardning this year as it's my first on this scale, I know things will last many years but it's still quite a shock initially!

If there's a B&M near you, they do 5ft canes at £1.69 for 20. Yes, 20! And they are good strong ones, not these weedy little things you see knocking about in supermarkets. Tie 2 together.

5ft canes are nowhere near long enough for runner beans, by the time you've pushed the end into the soil, I'm afraid. You need 8ft canes..... the e-bay ones are a reasonable price given they last a good few years.

25 for £13.40 - free p&p There is a smaller pack as well.

2 5ft canes securely bound together (at least a foot overlap) gives 1 8ft cane.
this gives 10 8ft canes for £1.69p (plus cost of whatever you use to bind them together with). Thats 25 8ft canes for about £3.75. Nearly £10 difference. I love a bargain I do?

I've got one 8ft pole and am going to use string to make a maypole for my beans. Cheaper than buying new canes. For me, it's not the cost so much as getting them to the site. I don't have a car and probably wouldn't be allowed on the bus home from the shops with 8ft canes lol.

I came home with a wheel barrow on the bus last week, admittedly it was a bucket style one andthe driver did raise his eyebrows a bit

I have seen the canes in Wilkinsons and was going to get some from there but I will check out our allotment shop now, its not on our site but we are allowed to use it :)
