Tomato problems
« on: March 14, 2011, 19:42 »
I have some tomatoes on the windowsill, with foil behind, and they seem to be growing realy well, not leggy and good healthy growth, but i have notice white patches on the leaves on a few of the bigger ones, what is causing this?

If you want to be happy for a short time - get drunk.

If you want to be happy for a long time - fall in love.

If you want to be happy forever - take up gardening!

Could just be sun scald from water droplets, either from where you've splashed them whilst watering or from condensation.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I would agree with Kristen - as long as it is only the bottom leaves the plant should be OK. Just make sure that you do not splash water on the leaves when watering and you should be OK from now on. Bet you cannot wait to taste the first toms of the year.

Slightly off topic but I used to put paper hats made from newspaper above my cukes to keep the sun off them - it really helped to protect them from sun scorch.
