I just sowed some chitted coriander seeds on my plot and was wondering whether to start another batch. Can anyone advise on the latest time for sowing outdoors?  We are in the south west near the sea and generally don't have frosts before November. 

I'd like to grow coriander all the year round and I have a frost free greenhouse and a cold frame.  I know it's not just about temperature - day length is important too.  Do other people manage to grow it in pots through the winter?  I don't especially want to grow it on the kitchen window sill - ours is north facing and I only use it for germinating seeds as plants tend to grow leggy.

I've tried to keep some all year round before but never had much luck.  I tend to find it goes leggy or doesn't grow at all and just generally looks ill until it keels over.  I've tried keeping it in the heated greenhouse and on the windowsill but it still doesn't seem to like it.  No harm in trying though. 
It will be interesting to see how you get on.

Hi everyone

Coriander is best grown from seed directly into the soil. It really does grow best in the summer/spring but it is definitely worth the effort !
