Cabbages hearts
« on: May 16, 2007, 19:24 »
My red cabbages that I planted out a few weeks ago have been growing very well recently (well actually if you stand and watch them you can see them grow  ). They are in a raised bed, with top soil and compost, that has had nothing in it before.

My question is.. they have no heart, just loads of leaves. Is it to early to worry about this (though they seem huge!) and if not, is there anything I can do about this?

No need to worry.  Most red cabbage varieties won't mature until Sept/Oct or even later.  They require a very long growing season.

That's what I thought, they just seemed to have grown so big so quickly, and I am so inexperienced, it really helps being able to ask these stupid little questions!
