Mickeyboy I think you have not grasped the principal of polls.

You have given two options to vote for.  What do you mean by them ?

If it was me (I didnt vote)  Id give your beds a good feed and let them rejuvenate over the winter ready for a nice healthy spring.  Ive got some winter caulies and cabbages in now, but hardly any (two beds only), but wont do that next year.

Sorry! I bang on about feeding the soil, but I really believe that we need to give back over winter to get the best out of it the rest of the year...so perhaps a green manure?

You can sow broad beans - they will be grand to overwinter.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

How about some onions and garlic, that's what I'm using one of my beds for. The others I'm just feeding and leaving over winter.

My beds are still full. Any that get emptied are being planted up with leeks, chard, beetroot, lettuce, onion sets, spring onions, garlic; and that's on top of the broccoli, sprouts, cabbage, swede, parsnips, kale, carrots, chicory; and then again I've got some beds planted up with 3 types of onions selected from this year's batch to go to seed for next year's seeds. I haven't even sown my broadies or early peas yet. Must get that done this weekend.

Plus a bed of sweetcorn that will be a home for hibernating ladybirds all winter.

I try and extend the seasons as much as I can; and am putting onion sets into the pots that the tomatoes are in [in the greenhouse] to give me fresh winter onions. So when the toms are finished, I'll just snip off at ground level and leave the onions to continue to grow.

I've got celery and lettuce in the greenhouse as well.

I succession sow pretty much all year round so that I've always got something to go in the ground when space becomes available. The trick is to think 'what will I be wanting to eat in 4-6 months], and how can i look after it until it goes outside.
