What should I feed my veg with and how often.   :?

I have a limited budget and some of the stuff in the garden centres is a bit pricey. So I do't want to buy someting that doesn't do the trick.

What about home-made conconctions (from weeds ?)

What  do you feed your veg with ?

Nothing - I feed the soil & let that feed the veg.

I feed the soil with manure, manure, compost, manure, comfrey, manure, manure and manure.

As above but also use tomato feed and buy when it`s on offer.

Manure and Tomato food is all I use. Leave everything else to the soil

If its well prepared it will produce great crops!

You can get much better deals on fertilisers if you find a garden supplies place rather than a DIY shed or fancy garden centre.  I get 25kg bags of fish blood and bone for around £6.

Comfrey is wonderful stuff - look in the information section for my article on it - there's a pdf you can print as well.

Nettle, comfrey and borage leaves (just discovered borage on another site) I also use molasses which my plants love.

how do you feed molasses biscome is it the liquid kind or the dried stuff ?

If you make a feed by disolving manure in water what proportion manure to water is necessary and do you have to leave it for a while to mature?

Also would such a feed be sufficient for tomatoes or do they need something different.

It seems to be impossible to buy specific tomato feed here in Spain and you get strange looks when you explain and just get given a general fertiliser - I wonder if because our tomatoes have a longer season to grow they don't need special feeding whereas in the UK you are trying to get them to grow and mature within the shorter UK summer and so the tomato food is a way of 'forcing' them to mature quickly.

It's in liquid form, I use a about 50 ml to a watering can for a strong feed. I'm lucky cos there’s a sugar cane factory half an hour away on the coast and they sell the extracts that are discarded to the agricultural shop.

Dawn, tomatoes LOVE molasses! I know what you mean about the lack of tomatorite in these parts! I get my visitors to bring it over but with over 100 tomato plants out I think I'll stick to molasses!!

I think the basic translation would be  abono de Caña miel? you could give it a shot at your local agro shop.
