Hi,

I've been looking for ages for these plants:

Mother of Thousands ( Magic Carpet/Saxifraga)
String of Hearts (Rosary Vine/Ceropegia)
String of Beads

I can't find any local garden centres that stock any of them and having no luck online either. I've tried asking friends and on Freecycle in case anyone had any cuttings/babies but no luck there either! I realise these are rather 'retro' plants, but I'd just love a Mother-of-Thousands again, they remind me of my mum and growing up!

Any advice is appreciated.

Ive got an oldie if i can add to yours , my dad called it London pride , its got clomps of dark green leaves the flower comes up on a long stem with small pink flowers at the end , i would love some of this but i don't know if it can be grown by seed ? or if i have the correct name even .

London pride we used to have some in the front garden  

saxifraga umbrosa is I think the latin for it

try chiltern seeds

London pride is my fav flower,if you take the time to study it up close it is beautiful.
I have some in my rock garden passed down from my nan to my mum and then to me!!

Yup richy you are right did you go to my school? Your latin seems unusually spot  on!!!! London's pride. No garden should be without it. Chiltern seeds (my beloved gardening bible) Elliot's variety 8" hardy perenial. £2.23 pkt. Likes semi shade. I'm not sure where you would find the shade Chrissie but I can send you a pkt if you like.

 Weeed no it was one of those plants that one of my tutors used to like to drop in and it lives in my father in laws front garden, to be honest I guessed at the spelling of umbrosa couldnt make my mind up if it needed the "a" or not, certainly couldn't pronounce it properly
