This Tin Foil Business.......It really does work.

I read on here about putting tin foil at the back of plants
that are growing on window sills etc to get light all around the plant.

Well I have tried it on my Tomato plants and it works a treat.
They are no longer bending towards the light source each day
and they seem to have improved since I put the foil at the back of them.
Will use it all the time now.

Allotment holder since 27th May 2007.

I used to work in a day hospital where we grew seeds, cuttings, and plants for therapy for the patients, but we only had a bench by a big window, and were only there Mon, weds & friday, so we used to have plants on capillary matting and they always grew too leggy and towards the light - used to spend most of our time turning them around (good therapy but bit repetitive!) We then found an old mirror and managed to devise a way of putting that behind the plants - it worked like a dream. They say magic is all done with mirrors!

I'm thinking of sticking some on cardboard first, it'll help it stay up and probably make it last longer too. :)
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

It's fine if you stick it under your pot or tray & then fold it upwards, then bend the sides inwards. Been doing it years.

Sounds like a good plan for some situations -
but I think if I tried this with my orchids they literally wouldn't know which way to turn!
