Planting inbetween potatoes

Hi,
I am looking for some advice, i have a few areas in between my maincrop spuds that i would like to use as i am running short of space to plant my other veg. I had thought of planting some salad that would be harvested before the spuds take over, any ideas?

I've put radishes in between mine tonight! I'm sure anything like that or salad leaves like rocket would be fine...no doubt someone who's done it before will come along and confirm that tho!

They'd need to be very fast crops to go in between spuds. Once spuds pop up, they grow quickly and you'll need to keep earthing them up as they grow so the tubers are kept dark. Anything planted in between would be buried quickly. I've never bothered interplanting.

Trillium, can this be overcome by earthing up when planting i.e. my rows are already 'raised', the radishes are in the middle of the 2 rows of spuds and further earth will come from the sides...well that's my plan

Doesn't really matter the type of bed the spuds were planted in. I've tried regular flat areas and also raised beds. The spuds will still seek their normal 'surface' growing point for the stalks, and the tubers will still stick out of the ground as they swell. You'll need a lot of soil from the sides to cover the tubers properly. Also depends on how wide your bed is whether or not the radishes will inadvertently get buried. You'll probably get some radishes but I wouldn't bet on the whole lot. Plant some backup radishes elsewhere if you love them.
