they have very pretty flowers  :D  they're picked small and I think they'd best be added to other ingredients in a stir fry cos not much in the taste stakes on their own  :D   I wouldn't go out of my way to buy  them again though

Nothing is wrong with them, they are just blend but we concluded this once with Nikki that corguettes are probably much more blend.

Very nice to serve just steamed with butter and mint on side of something strongly flavoured like lamb chops, etc.

And they are truly beautiful, also produce all season till frosts if regularly picked. :)

not bad with a bit of chopped mint and cream mixed in!!!  But yes, they are a bit bland, but I'm still going to grow the seeds you sent me Pamela, and what I saved myself from last year, my Nici liked them with the mint and cream, and if nothing else, stir fries and treats for the chooks.

they are very pretty little dark red flowers though!

Not worth growing except for the flowers. It's the pods you eat, whole, they aren't really a pea. You have to pick them when they are about an inch long, to have any chance of them staying tender. Lot of fiddling about for very little reward. The taste and texture of longer ones resembles sisal string.

As I recall they do have a very delicate asparagus flavour, hence the name. As others have said its what you do with them that counts, and also how much of a palate you have. If you smoke, or regularly eat highly flavoured things you might miss the subtle flavour.(But if you like marrow I guess this wont be the case :) )

You must pick 'em very young or they get tough and stringy, no more than 1"long.

I'm growing them again this year, if I can get more than 5 seeds to germinate

I'm trying these for the first time this year. Got them under a propagator at the mo in my conservatory, but not seeing any sign of life at the mo! How long do they normally take to germinate? I'm trying them as interested in whether they really do taste of asparagus.

Quite delicate and a bit similar.

A waste of space to put them into the propagator though, they germinate happily in about a week or so in situ, in April, as per seed packet, ahem.
