Hi, we have some first year rhubarb but one of the stalks seem to have gone funny, can anyone tell us what has happened?

Don't know, it seems to have happened to just one stalk, where the outer part of the stalk has peeled back as you can see in the photograph, not sure animals or birds would peel a rhubarb stalk like a banana before eating. There doesn't seem to be any peck or nibble marks.

If the outer layers of the stalk gets damaged, eg eaten/broken by wind, they do tend to roll back - just like that. So, I wouldn't worry about it.
