Iv'e cut back some of my overwintering chillis (Rocotos) and brought them into the house because the frost we had back in Jan almost wiped them out.

They are now starting to produce new growth.  On some they are weeping sap from the top of their stalks.

How can i seal the stalk and prevent them from weeping, im worried about them getting infected.  And also it must be weakening the plant.

From a plant's point of view, it was in "hibernation" and you brought it into a warm place - it is now spring.  Then you trimmed it back just as it draws water up via the roots to the leaves to start growing ... no wonder it is weeping!

I would have thought they would naturally dry up, but its the moving from a cold to warm spot that might be difficult.  Perhaps put a drop of melted candle wax on the weepy bits? :?

Mind you don't burn yourself or put melted candle wax all over the carpet, the polished furniture, over the cat .....
Failure is only a temporary change in direction to set you straight for your next success.
Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.

Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.

The very ends of the stalks were going black (Stem rot :?: ), and this wiped out all my plant's last winter, so I cut off an inch below.

I tried candlewax but it doesn't seem stick to the plant very well and seeps around it.

Can you get them back to a dormant situation so they might heal before giving it their all in spring?
