Letter from Hugh!
« on: February 01, 2008, 12:09 »
Just wondering if everyone else who has signed up for the chicken out campaign got the 'letter from Hugh' email.

Basically a request to take photos in our local shops of the Free range chickens (or empty shelves) available. Think I'll be doing it, but just trying to think of a good explanation of what I'm doing so don't get my camera confescated

Does anyone know if its legal for the shop to take the camera from me or not?or request I leave etc??? :?

I got one too Ruth!

I don't think it would be against the rules to take a photo in a shop

I had a good nose around today, see in off topic, but would not dare to take a photo. Had the same thoughts, don't know the legal standing, but once I asked a guy fidgeting in T****'s with the veg cabinet, what he was doing and he answered very rude indeedy.

Then added something on the lines of I did not want to know.

I didn't get a letter from Hugh either!  But also having worked in supermarkets, I'm sure they would not be happy with you taking photo's, unless you looked like a Japanese Tourist!!!!

an interesting legal position methinks :?

Surely HFW wouldn't be stirring up a campaign of civil disobedience!

Now thats a bit over the top.  I wonder if they are just keeping an eye open for people taking photos of chicken products?

About six months ago my teenage daughter decided she wanted to come shopping with me and she started taking photos (with her mobile phone) of anything that had mangos in.  When I asked her why apparently it was for a school project. I would have been devastated if we had been treated like that.
