Went down to the allotments this morning to check everything was OK. There is so much lying water. It's going to be some time before I can actually do some digging, that's if it stops raining. Still, musn't grumble, although it's rained heavily for weeks here in the Northwest we aren't in the same situation as those flooded areas in the South of England. I feel so sorry for them.

Another 'look only' visit. Desperate to finish moving the raspberry canes to their new bed but that ain't gonna happen anytime soon. Need to dig up the parsnips and leeks as well but the ground is so heavy.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

Decide to tidy the back garden, finally got round to removing the dead bedding plants, cleared the leaves and planted a dozen polyanthus into to pots to brighten the patio area. Also planted the snowdrops that my sister had given me.

Just planted out some garlic and shallots in a raised bed covered with fleece to keep birds off and keep them protected if the weather turns even colder. Only 3 degrees here in Hampshire but just grey not raining for once paths pretty wet at the allotment

Cheers HH
Keep digging

Surprised myself be being able to dig down a raised pile of dirt at the back of the plot- it was covered by nettles in the summer, and I wasn't sure what to find, but the roots pulled out easily and the soil looks friable and lovely.  Played with my new shed 'verandah' by temporarily sticking the corrugated plastic across the tops of both doors and sitting in my chair under it in in the rain  :) works a treat.

Dug up couple of sprout sticks. Few more left but quite small so not sure if will end up throwing on compost,
Did bit of hoeing and though ground looks wet, soil under looks crumbly.
Leeks getting bigger. red onions have lots of green. Ground too wet to dig yet.

Just a look around today! So uninspiring with this horrible wet weather :( Rice fields anyone?
Cheered myself up by going around the garden centre and buying/looking stuff !! :)

I just popped in to have a check on everything and couldn't resist getting the seeds out when I got home and sowed some summer cabbage in pots to go in the greenhouse. I know its a bit early but I couldn't resist!!!!!

Moved my rhubarb to bed in my new area of allotment. Harvested remainder of beetroot. Harvested Chard. Harvested some Chinese Broccoli. Too soggy for anything else.

Went food shopping and spotted rhubarb plants in bags for £1! Came home with 2 plus an asparagus plant. Going to pot them up after lunch.
