My new shed was worth its weight in gold as the thunder and lightning crashed around my head this afternoon  :nowink: .

In between showers I picked courgettes and runner beans, dug up potatoes and forked over the empty bed.

Rain here, too. So no need to water. Weeded the melon bed but left the bindweed - it's so entangled with the melon vines that if I were to remove it, I'd end up damaging the plants. Still pleased, though.

Planted out my calabrese, dug up my last potatoes, then dug the bed over, weeded everything else.  Looking good for a change. Great to see my 2 strawberry plants have each got 3 runners stretching out to plant themselves so hopefully more strawberries next year.  :)

Weeded around the French beans & put stakes in for them & tied them up,beans were trailing on the soil. Did lots of weeding inc the first sown carrots. Found they were tiny & riddled with carrot fly so out they came. Took old forced strawberry plants from the greenhouse to the compost bins, that's all the hanging baskets empty now.

Weeded, sowed more beetroot, planted out some leeks (for the 3rd time in these holes). Mike weeded the ex-shallot bed, and then we did some watering & feeding.

Went up after work to check that my new calabrese has settled in and water them. They are still standing so should be ok. Never grown them before so fingers crossed.

actually yesterday I spring cleaned my "girl cave" and drew up a rotational plan for my soon-to-be-revamped kitchen garden.
Now what shall I do today?

Dug up some of the wilja spuds, then our daughter and 2 grandsons arrived, the 2 yr old wanted to dig some spuds up so we had to hide some spuds just below the soil so he could find them and dig them up with his little plastic spade.

Just got back from an hour or so down there. Dug over an area ready for Autumn planted onions. Strimmed all the paths and picked another very large bunch of scented sweet peas.

Lifted most of my maincrop onions as I was finding quite a lot of mouldy ones.  The others haven't turned their tops over yet so I might leave them a bit longer.
Picked the first french beans, there are nowhere near as many as the runners, they don't seem to be being pollinated.
Same with the gherkins and courgettes, lots of little ones, but no big ones. There are plenty of bees about, so I don't know why.

Finished turning a bag of horse manure/compost into another bag on my plot, ready for the autumn re-vamp, re-design and deep digging (will be done by hubby and "Bessie" the HUGE rotavator)  I will then use my little "Tilly" the tiller to dig in the manure and compost.  New seeds ordered from a company that I "stumbled" across on the net.  They were very prompt in replying to a query I had prior to ordering and thier site is so colourful and informative.  In case you are interested here is the link http://www.sowseeds.co.uk  There is a good selection of AGM seeds available and the prices are not too bad either.  I will see how they perform out here.

Watered and issued commands! (Mr Snoop and a helper are currently brushcutting and I'd quite like some paths clearing through the forest of weeds.)
