When to take back Broody hen ?

Hi All

I lent my neighbour a broody and she hatched off 4 out of the 6 eggs she was given , so the chicks are now 6/7 week old and  well on there way so can the hen be brought back as dont want to leave it to long due to the reintroduction etc to original flock
3 girls .............very addictive these girls are becoming

She will let you know when she is ready to leave her chicks but she may have problems fitting back into your flock and could in for some bullying so you will have to keep an eye on her.
Next time it would be best for your friend to bring his broody coop and eggs round to you to prevent any re-introduction problems.

My chicks are 7 weeks tomorrow. They seem quite independent now and spend lots time nowhere near broody mum. Last night they slept separately too. My broody has gone broody AGAIN!  ??? even before laying! Empty nest syndrome! So now she is in the 'stop broody crate' as not hatching again yet. Keeping an eye on chicks but they seem fine.

This could be down to the heat and they lose condition when they have brought up chicks often feeding the chicks rather than themselves.  Try to build her condition up as she may just be exhausted.   ;)

Thanks for the replies

I shall fetch her back tonight , she can see the original flock through the fence and speaks to her sister daily (through the wire) so hopefully not to heavy on the reintro
