Very  diff with traps as they smell them!!
I have put in whirlygigs, the ones the kids blow in various spots as they rattle in the wind thus confuse the *. I have not have any new diggings since then, about 6 weeks ago. bought them in asda,

I use the scissor type traps successfully

I also usually dig into the mole mound as I find it easier to find the run holes

we are surrounded by fields here so it is a common problem

I have trapped and killed 7 so far this year !!!!

fields here to and it has been dry, so they use deeper tunnels. Lots of mounds last year due to wet weather. Found a mole crossing the road, son was curious. added worm strewn manure to front, so need to keep eye there

I have 6 traps Neil

I try to set 2 or 3 round the mounds

some times you get lucky straight away but sometimes you need to be patient and might have to set more traps if they tunnel away from traps 1st set ............ but leave all traps in as moles run up and down their runs looking for wiggly worms to eat

once I got lucky as I noticed ground moving so I stood still for 10 mins with garden spade at the ready and bingo one chop and I got the blighter ..... it was quick and clean ewwwwww !!!

Well I have a persistent problems with moles in my patch. Today I went out and found they had come up under every one of my young cabbage plants, upheaving them and leaving a tunnel of holes all through this section!!

I can't catch them with traps, so tried an ultrasonic device that you stick in the ground. Well my moles don't seem bothered by it at all! It is supposed to keep moles away for a radius of 700 sq meters. I had a mole come up right under the thing!  So from my experience a total waste of money.

I'm still looking for a way to rid the moles from my patch, which they don't understand was cultivated to produce veg for me and NOT worms for them!!

We use a sonic repeller, with almost constant success but also employ traps, both scissor and tunnel, if they are too persistent which they just can be. You'll have problems with youngsters branching out for new territory and the mole disturbance in general is bad this year.

If you're not sure what you're doing with traps, please get some advice from someone who knows how to deploy them properly, or get a pest controller to do it for you. At best you won't catch them...
