Is it ok to put mange tout seedlings out now?
are they frost hardy?

in a normal spring they will stand an overnight frost - but they certainly won't like this very cold/freezing weather we have at the moment  :( The cold winds would kill them!

If they are fully hardened off, the ground is neither frozen nor waterlogged,they have shelter from icy winds, there are no pigeons to peck them to pieces and you have supports in place....... yes


But it might be worth waiting a week to see how the weather goes  :nowink:

also, if i plant more up in the coldframe will they germinate at these temperatures?
its just that in rapidly running out of windowcills and my wife rapidly running out of patience >:(

They will be fine in the coldframe. Mine are outside in the garden, but sheltered from wind, snow and pigeons.

I germinated them inside however, then hardened them off straight away.

You can direct sow mangetout when the soil warms up a bit btw. The only reason I don't is because we have so many voles on our plot -- they just eat the seeds  :ohmy:
