sawnee- I inherited a odd-looking damson tree on my allotment and that's what produced my freezerful (and more that I gave away) - I would leave it until you see it fruit, then decide how to prune it.

Thanks Sweet nasurtium will do,
the "tree" did have fruit this year but being so busy sorting out the plot (first year allotmenteer) I didnt take much notice of it.
I call it a tree but it is really several 'treelets' together :?
The thickest is about 4" diameter and about 10' tall, there are about four smaller treelets growing around this one, they are around half the size.all intertwined.
would it be OK to take these out, and try to rescue the main "tree"?or still wait for the fruit?  :?

I agree, you loose the small ones, dig them up, you do not want a thicket of seedlings and suckers, just the one tree happy. :)

If in any doubt send us a piccie.

Right ho!
Loose the dodgy ones and keep the bigger one :!:
This one I'll leave alone till the summer, then a little trim, and a bit of pampering, sticky bug band and a bit of horse pooh just for good measure

Sounds a good plan to me.  I don't know this as for scientific advice, just as this silver leaf likes to attack in wetter times I try to prune my stone fruit in the driest spells of May- June, depending on the weather.
