Just went down to check on the plot, with had some strange people wandering around the allotment lately, we now have to lock the gate even when we are on site.  But everything was okay noticed that my broad beans were starting to flower seems strange when everything else is almost finished.  added a bit of colour to a gloomy wet day.

Took down the bean frame, then had to find somewhere to store all these canes I suddenly have.   :nowink:
Started a lasagne type bed where the celeriac was till yesterday.
Weeded.
Picked 4 apples.

Not managing to get much done at all with the rain as it is. Yesterday dug over one and half raised beds adding compost to one and then covering with black plastic for the winter. The one that is half dug has chard and spinach still going strong so when that finishes will dig the rest of that raised bed and add manure ready for next year.
Hardly anyone about now as most have either put their plots to bed for the winter or just given up until spring as the ground is now so wet.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

We cleared and manured a couple of beds. Harvested some perpetual spinach, swiss chard and a few kale leaves. Started weeding around my strawberries, I am going to lay cut straw around them, see if that will help with the weeds, should have done it before the strawberries were down  :)

Took down the bean canes and brought them home to store.   Sowed some Wizard field beans.  A bit late, but you never know.  Harvested a few broad beans!   They are still flowering (crimson flowered variety).  Also dug up a mooli radish and picked some Tuscan kale.

Leeks and overwintering onions look good.  No sign of garlic showing yet.

I need taller netting arrangements for the PSB.  They have reached the top!

finally got to the plot for the first time in weeks, picked rasperries, dug a few carrots and pulled the last of the beetroot, took down the last beans, keeping a few for next years seed, the last of the bean canes came down, now to get the rotovator running again and have a day turning the plot over. (then weed membrane).

Removed the bean frame and dug the bed over , dug another 2 beds over, cut down the sweet corn plants and found another 2 cobs I'd missed! Wondering if that has now turned into popcorn??? Noticed the garlic is coming on, planted more garlic and some onions.  Put loads of manure where the sweet corn had been and had a general tidy up.  Harvested butternut squash, disappointing, only got one squash per plant, not sure if that's normal.  Pulled some carrots, quite pleased, not brilliant but good enough.

Harvested some big fat leeks, more golden beetroot, some celeriac, red cabbage and rainbow chard. Cleared another area of the weed jungle (while cursing the previous people years ago who 'tried' to take it over and covered large areas in carpet.....

I removed the carpet last week but today I was basically removing another 'carpet' of weed roots that had knotted together so tightly on the top inch of the 'soil' there was no soil there!

Composted the last of the courgette plants. I shall miss them. Manured raised beds where they had been and covered for the winter.
Sorted water leak in new shed and checked that OH had wired the internal solar light in the shed properly as it seems to be so dark so early now and I have a window-less shed.
Turned compost heap into empty manure bin and it's looking ok.

Where it wasn't frozen, the soil was squidgy wet, so did nothing except try the apples (no still not pickable), pull some leeks and pick some kale for the dinner.

Cut up masses for the compost bin -- a barrowful of dahlia top growth, all the gladioli leaves, the remains of the achocha plants from the arches and the courgette plants.

Rather nice standing in the sunshine.

Brought home lots of goodies: beetroot, calabrese, PSB, carrots, swede, huge bunch of parsley, rosemary, head of celery and a few of the congo black potatoes.

Planted out wall flowers and the last of the miniature daffodil bulbs from the box I had forgotten was in the car

Popped me nose in after work to see if the guttering is working and it is! about 2" water in the bottom of the first IBC already which isn't bad after 5 days.

I need taller netting arrangements for the PSB.  They have reached the top!

I added an extra foot with my extending poles to the PSB bed and they have reached the top of that too!
My plants are now between 4 and 5 foot high ::)
