Got an hour in earlier today in the sunshine and finally got around to moving the compost mound to a more permanent area.  Uncovered a few slug egg nests for the birds in the process  :)
Harvested a holed swede (compost), and a nice large one (for the fridge). Found some baby turnips I'd forgotten about in the process under the netting  :tongue2:

Ditto Aled. The bbc forecast is hopeless. It shows overcast but no rain but the weather map clearly shows rain. Desperately need to finish raised beds that I started and also compost courgette plants that have all but stopped producing fruits.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

I'm hopefully going tomorrow if I don't have to work to see what's left after all of the rain we had on Monday (and since then). I hope my garlic hasn't been washed away!
My husband's a water sign, I'm an earth sign, together we make mud :-)

My gardening diary is here - go on, have a peek , you might be able to help me!

Spent a good three hours up at the plot this morning.  Cleared away courgette and pea debris. Weeded.  Harvested parsnips, savoy cabbage, swede, cauliflower, fennel, tatsoi and bekana.   Planted 3 varieties of garlic,  Sultop, Cristo and Music.  Put them where courgettes had been.   Soil too wet and heavy where they were originally going to go.

Finally planted my onion sets.
Also got the garlic in.

It then started to rain so my trip was cut short.  :(

Spent an hour on the plot removing broken glass from the cold frame,Tided the plot and the shed then took the rubbish down to the skip.
Broad beans and onions doing well, checked the garlic in the green house and there fine. :)

Nix!  nothing, didn't even visit.

But I did buy some aquadolce broad beans from the local garden centre to plant out in the bed I dug over recently.  Too late to put them in now - I'll need to dig over and check for no couch grass roots in good daylight, then dig in some manure from the fertiliser heap from last year, and plant with little bamboo stakes for each plant.   Last year I neglected the stakes, and the drooping beans got eaten by assorted ground creeping nasties.

I went on line to buy little aquadolce beans plants from the big suppliers, bur they were all sold out.  And then hey presto, I found them down the road for £3.99.

Next challenge - prepare the bed, plant the beans, find the stakes and pray!  I always think garden centres don't just sell plants or seeds, they sell hope!

Delivered 5 tonnes of manure onto the plot in the pouring rain this morning. Wheelbarrow tyre then burst so went home defeated. Happy days!

Spent this morning spreading muck and covering areas of the plot over for winter, the heavens then opened and I retreated before planting garlic

Spent a couple of hours in the lovely sunshine digging another couple of rows (x 5metres) of the 1/2 plot and harvested the rest of the carrots which have got a bit of fly damage. The earlier ones were OK! We had a general tidy up and had a bit of a chat with plot neighbours.
