For a little while, bright sunshine while snowing at the same time! Checked my soil to see if it had dried out and it seems to be improving slightly and is in good condition on the surface 2" while still heavy like clay underneath. Tried to turn over a couple of beds. I put 46 onion sets (23 red, 23 white) in small fibre pots. Keeping them outside, and I don't have a greenhouse so, fingers crossed the weather doesn't get too cold! Bought some King Edward seeds and they are chitting at a north facing window in the shed. Have sweet peas in small pots on the south facing bedroom window waiting to germinate.

Down there in fast-flurrying snow, but not too cold. Strangely, the soil is in good crumbly condition and I dug over the bed where the first early potatoes will be going.

Harvested leeks, red cabbage, oca, parsnips, carrots and jerusalem artichokes

Tidied up where the lovely wildlife has thrown up bark onto the slabs by the compost bins and nice neat piles of earth along the side of some of the beds.

Lots of buds on the cherry trees, so that late summer pruning must have been OK  :D

Weather not that bad after all just a flurry of snow , after a browse around the garden centre, I went to my allotment and repaired  my shed  dug up a few weeds. I'm not sure what to do with the gooseberry bush it looks quite old. I've pruned it into a bowl shape so air can get to the centre and around the roots which stops mould apparently. I will just have to wait and see if it's worth keeping.

Sorry to hear about the lost purse Ema. Reporting it lost is a good idea rather than waiting. If it turns up you can always report it found.

What I did on the plot today.......

Shivered and thought about it and then went in.
