I HARVESTED  :D new potatoes - my first thing from there, 6 months after I started. So exciting but not sure I want anyone to eat them now I've washed them. Apologies to anyone in the south-west Leicestershire area who may have been disturbed by the squealing....!!! LOL, very happy  :)
My husband's a water sign, I'm an earth sign, together we make mud :-)

My gardening diary is here - go on, have a peek , you might be able to help me!

Oh yeah - also, dug and weeded for bed 7 in which I planted sweetcorn plants that have been lovingly chitted, potted up and hardened off. Removed the plastic chicken wire from the new potato bed and put it around bed 7, then realised I'd fenced myself in... ::) looked at the remaining 50 mtrs of nettles and brambles and thought - another day!  I'm going to eat some of my potatoes later, not at ALL excited :-)

Just come back from an hour of hoeing, weeds now exterminated  >:(

Everything looking very good, very tempted to pull some turnips as they look excellent

Carried 2 big barrels down that I bought from a local olive supplier for a reasonable price. Going to use one for a water butt and one for a nettle or comfrey fertiliser (not decided yet). I will just need to work out how to fit taps or something.

I only had halfd an hour down there so I did a general inspection - noticed my main crop spuds were looking a bit sorry for themselves so fed them some chicken manure pellets and gave a quick weed where I spotted a few poking their heads up through the dense foliage.

I also ate my first 3 strawberries - yum yum :)

Can't speak for sweetpea but my first earlies are well in flower (rocket), my
second earlies are budding (kestrel) and my main crop (cara) are looking good
but obviously a way behind.

Today I planted a cucumber in the greenhouse. A little late perhaps but this greenhouse has lots of ventilation... when I get time I'll replace the broken panes.  ::)

Flowers on my tatties at the end of the garden... I think they were Rocket. Down the plot - some have some haven't....but I haven't seen them for a wee while.  :(

quick trip up this morning, just to finish the strings for the beans, got through 3 wickes balls of sisal string (bought at the end of the season last year when it was going cheap (anyone know any good places to get this in bulk). a windy hour at the plot then the weather started to blow in.

Weeded the sweet corn, harvested some nice stuff including some impressive Early Nantes carrots, planted out some more runners ... polestar. Got rained on heavily and abandoned ship. Off to the headland now to get blown about a bit and to celebrate some very good news.

Not managed into the garden for a good few days due to work however the hot weather seems to have forced the Rocket to bolt, good job I've another row which is still small.

My 2nd earlies (Maris Peer) are flowering and some maincrop (King Edward) are beginning to bud. Both were only planted on 6th April but not complaining!

General weeding throughout raised beds and picked some more salad leaves and what I can of the Rocket.

Managed to finish the job of erecting runner bean support.  My lovely plot neighbour (I think he has taken me under his wing ;) ), had started it off for me.  I have now planted 22 runner beans while hubby broke up some pallets for me so that I can build a brassica frame :)  I have also taken sweetcorn, courgettes, pumpkin and more runner beans up there and left them in my fruit cage.  I can stop off after school and do them little by little  8)
