I'm going down to my allotment tomorrow, I don't care if it is frozen, or soaking or cold or miserable. Barring 3 ft of snow i am going to go sit in my green house for an hour or so!

If Nottingham wasn't so far I ask if I copuld join you with a flask!

(I really could do with a lengthy quiet sit down)
All welcome, it will be nice to get away from an over excited, sugar infused three yr old for an hour or so!
Kate
Always thankful for advice!

finally went to my allotment slipped up and down the soggy muddy paths, found my shed has a leaky roof,  got covered in mud, freezing cold, but it was nice just to be there looking at the ground and thinking of spring :-)

Popped up to my allotment yesterday, and started planninig in my head again, not looking too bad.
We dug over our beds well before the hard frosts and snow hit, roll on spring,
getting all excited.
Seeds are all orderd, and I'm going to sow chilli seeds in my new propagator today. :) :) :) :) :)

Went up to my allotment this morning  The main pathe is still a solid sheet of ice. and all my water buts have top hats on them
Still I managed to fill-up the bird feeders so that our feathered friends can keep well fed.
Looking forward to my first full growing year.

Went this morning and although all the snow has gone the soil is solid for a couple of inches. I could not dig up any parsnips and still have loads of winter digging to do. I ended up chopping a bit of hedge and moving a few things around ready to build a pallet compost bin.

Had a couple of hours on there this morning, put out some more fat balls for the birds, and had a little tidy up of my shed and stoked the woodburner up for an hour and had a nice pot of tea. magic  :)
I used to work in a helium gas factory, but I walked out, no one talks to me like that.

I'm just plainly jealous  :nowink:  there's nothing nicer than a decent cuppa char on the plot!!  ;)

Not to mention the woodburner! That sounds quite tempting. I might have to start searching for one of those beauties.  :tongue2:

I went to my plot yesterday to get some sprouts, my first visit since the snow. I was dreading what I might find, but the damage was'nt too bad. The netting over the fruit cage had been brought down by the weight of the snow and two fruit trees had their branches broken, apart from that, everything looked ok. I had a bit of a job opening the shed door as the frame had swollen due to the wet weather, but once inside it was nice and dry and cosy.  I sat for awhile with my hot cup of tea and thought about sunny days to come.  Sprouts in bag, I took a slow walk home, feeling quite good!

There is no better show of antisipation than a man sowing seeds in a field.
