Spuds - Kestrel
« on: June 07, 2009, 22:21 »
Hello,

Looking for some help here. This has puzzled a 72 year old (not me) very experienced gardener who needs answers!  ???

This guy (on the site where I have my allotment) has planted several rows of Kestrel potatoes and all bar one of the rows has healthy looking plants above ground. The other row has no sign of life at all but when he dug his seed potatoes up to see what was happening (initially he thought he had forgotten to plant them  ::))he found that the seed potatoes had produced healthy looking tubers.  There are some small shoots on the potato which is where the plant would grow from but that's it.  It's very strange.

Can anyone suggest what might be happening?

Cheers.

Having been read 43 times, as I post this, it can only be that the people who have read it do not know the answer.

I can assure you that if they knew, the people on here would not ignore the question and there is really no need to "bump" the thread.

May I refer you to our site policies...

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

FWIW I missed it the first time around ....

Could it be aminopyralid herbicide residue in manure used just on the row that has failed?
