Old net curtains

Old net curtains

Hi all   would using net curtains,  do the same job as fleece over winter crops. ??

I wouldn't think the material would have the same warmth preserving and cold barrier properties as fleece.

But if you've got it come Spring it will help keep those pesky bugs at bay from all sorts of crops.

It's not the sort of thing to curl up in and keep cosy.  :(

Too young to remember string vests are we ! :)

Curtain netting may not be as good as fleece but it does help to keep frost off the plants.

String vests? Cosy??  :blink:  :tongue2:

I hated them. Left you with lines when you laid down. They were summer wear if I remember rightly.

By winter it was into good old (were they?) cotton vests. Hated those too!  :tongue2: :tongue2:

It must be more than 40 years since I last wore a vest.


A sheet of newspaper will offer some frost protection until it gets wet.

It might be interesting to compare the performance of fleece, net curtain and newspaper.  :unsure: If you've got time for that sort of thing and spare plants.  ::)
